Web Designer & Developer
Our client, a youth orientated charitable organisation, has a great opportunity for an experienced Web Designer/Developer to join their team in Nottinghamshire.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Improve, maintain and develop the company’s web presence and online profile.
Lead on the design and ongoing evolution of the website including multi-media and mobile developments.
Support new and specialist web design and development projects and contribute to updates, refreshes and general design and build projects as required.
Manage the current membership database and liaise with the marketing team to ensure data is correct.
Provide guidance to other teams in the ongoing development of their web presence using CMS, through support, advice and development work.
Duties and responsibilities:
Develop the website using the CMS, amending templates and CSS, laying out pages and setting up mini-templates and HTML snippets as necessary. Liaise closely with staff responsible for sections of the website to ensure the site meets their needs.
Take the lead on development projects whenever possible, liaising with colleagues and ensuring that deadlines and project objectives are met. These developments can be in relation to campaigns or projects that include elements of digital (e.g. social media) or web marketing.
Liaise with support staff from the 3rd party company that produce the Membership and Content Management System to ensure it works seamlessly with in-house systems and data feeds, and issues are dealt with effectively.
Provide support and guidance for CMS users within the organisation. Handle any layout or content-related support requests. Initiate and support activities and events to foster improved awareness and capability among CMS users generally.
Monitor website content ensuring its relevance to the audience and up to date to improve the user engagement and experience. Provide analysis on web usage for reports and market intelligence.
Develop flash animation, HTML email templates, integration of social media or web based service or other digital tools or features as required for specific projects.
Produce documentation, tutorials and guidelines and support trainers to ensure CMS users have sufficient training and resources to support them as they develop content in the CMS.
Keep abreast of design, technical developments relevant to your area of work to enable informed decisions and recommendations.
Understanding of technical architecture of Content Management Systems.
Good web design skills and an appreciation of digital design.
Understanding of Membership Management Systems.
Knowledge of Jquery and other scripting languages.
Creation and editing of graphics using Adobe Photoshop or another graphics package.
Excellent knowledge of Google Analytics and reporting on web activity.
Awareness of accessibility & usability guidelines and of legal issues such as copyright, data protection and FOI.
Knowledge and experience of Linux, Apache, MYSQL.
Knowledge of PHP.
An understanding of patching, supporting, administering and configuring server operating systems and applications.
Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies.
