More about the role

We are looking for a designer to take our mobile site and app (which are used by millions of people every year) to the next level!  You will have an eye for detail and a passion for solving problems.  Do you place elements on a web page with thought, consideration and justification? If you do, we want to speak to you.  

Here’s what you can expect to be doing

Take a look at our mobile website: ao.com – are things leaping out at you that need changing? After 2 minutes are you bursting with ideas that will make our website industry leading? In an environment that your ideas are listened to! You will take your informed concepts through wireframing, into Photoshop, and then work closely with our front-end dev team who inject some magic in there so our customers can use it!  It’s as simple as that. Our marketing team is filled with talented people who love what they do and care passionately about their work. We’re dynamic and forward-thinking, and are looking for someone to fit right in. You’ll work alongside highly experienced designers, front and back-end developers, analysts, project managers and directors.

A few things about you

You’re a highly talented UX designer with an exceptional portfolio showcasing all your own work.  You’ll understand the intricacies of designing for the mobile platform & enjoy the challenges and opportunities this presents.  You’ll also have an excellent understanding of what drives digital media from a commercial perspective.Experience of designing for the mobile platform.

  • Solid understanding of UI design and UX design principles
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
  • Highly creative with a strong sense of design and aesthetic
  • Excellent conceptual, layout, colour and typographic skills
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines
  • Creating web pages and journeys that fulfil an objectiveGreat presentation / workshop skills

Beneficial skills:

  • Proficient with CSS and HTML
  • Understanding of JavaScript / JQuery
  • Knowledge of site speed and optimisation techniques
  • Related degree or equivalent experience
