Job Role
Web Developer

An ambitious and highly innovative software house in Bath is looking for a Senior JavaScript Developer to join their fast-growing team. They’re looking for someone that can create high quality software but beyond that, they'd like someone who can embed themselves within the ideas process and can help shape the technical direction of the product and business. This role is perfect for somebody looking to be part of a highly experienced and collaborative team on an outstanding product, all working together to take the company to new heights.

What experience you’ll need

At your core, you will have expert experience with JavaScript and web standards. This will involve knowledge of modern JavaScript libraries (ideally Node though they're open to others) as well as hand-coded JS. Experience with HTML5, CSS3, SASS, REST and GitHub will all be very helpful. You’ll have a strong understanding of CS fundamentals and have a good amount of experience building scalable web applications. You’ll need a good understanding of server side components such as Node.js or Python. Any experience with Choo, RWD, Microservices, ElasticSearch, Docker or Kubernetes would also be a big bonus.

What you’ll be doing

As a business that puts a lot of emphasis on team collaboration, you’ll be inputting your new ideas and designs and then helping those become a reality. It’s a hands on role that will involve creating and extending both front and back-end functional solutions. Whilst there is an established tech stack at the moment, they’ll be looking for you to bring in new experience and interest to vary the skills of the team even further. They're developing an advanced web application that streamlines searching using organisational tools and AI/machine learning; it's very cool.  Upcoming projects will also include helping to build a new task-oriented user interface and expanding the microservices architecture.  They run a lightweight rapid iteration development process that delivers great features and functionality to users quickly; work is well-structured but with flexibility to experiment.

What you’ll get in return for your talents

The business itself is at the forefront of its industry and ready to grow. You’ll be part of a friendly team and will have a large amount of personal control and ownership of your own work. On top of the competitive salary (to c£47K) they like doing whatever they can to keep their developers happy and building a supportive atmosphere is a big part of that for them. There could well be share options included and other generous bens not least that your influence on the tech stack will enable you to play around with new tech and stay on top of exciting industry trends.
