Calling all word nerds, number crunchers and meticulous marketers

We’re seeking a motivated individual to join our high-performing marketing team and contribute to the delivery of an ambitious organisational strategy, which aims to make our intellectual heritage accessible to everyone.

With excellent communication and people skills, you will take ownership of select marketing campaigns. These bring to life the Library’s Living Knowledge vision, working to reach and engage audiences to generate revenue and deliver ROI across our commercial areas.

You will support the Commercial Marketing Manager to develop and implement strong, content-led marketing plans. Working collaboratively with the Marketing teams (Digital Engagement, Campaigns, Audience Insight and Design), as well as other colleagues, you’ll assist in the production of content for channels including email, social and web, using a variety of different digital platforms and tools.

You’ll also help ensure the smooth working of the department and support the teams in key tasks from undertaking grassroots marketing activity to reach specific audiences, to supervising photographers and assisting with out of hours events.

You’ll be a creative thinker with experience working on marketing campaigns and communicating with target audiences in a commercial environment. Writing copy for print and digital collateral will come naturally to you. You will be a natural organiser, able to act on your own initiative and manage your time effectively. You must be a team player and a confident communicator who can build strong working relationships with colleagues. You’ll also feel comfortable working with numbers and learning new systems, and generally take a hands-on approach to work, tackling anything you’re tasked with.

With a bold strategic vision and ambitious future plans there couldn’t be a better time to join our team.

As one of the world’s great libraries, our duty is to preserve the nation’s intellectual memory for the future and make it available to all for research, inspiration and enjoyment. At present we have well over 170 million items, in most known languages, with three million new items added every year. We have manuscripts, maps, newspapers, magazines, prints and drawings, music scores, and patents. We make our collections and programmes available to all. We operate the world’s largest document delivery service providing millions of items a year to customers all over the world. What matters to us is that we preserve the national memory and enable knowledge to be created both now and in the future by anyone, anywhere.

In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits.  Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes a minimum of 26.6%. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
